The industrialist Julius Wodley built the „chateau Lerchenhof“ on the occasion of his marriage in the year 1848. At that time the chateau, which is located on a sunny plateau above the town of Hermagor, served as a residence and manor for the prestigious family.

Through inheritance and marriage the chateau Lerchenhof was acquired by the Steinwender family before the turn of the century. A jewel with 160 years of history, rich in ambience and timeless beauty, the chateau is located amidst beautiful parks – with hundred of years old trees. Traditionally designed farm with agriculture. The Steinwender family offer their guests a warm and friendly welcome.

The location of our hotel is especially qualified for excursions, biking tours, motorcycles, vintage cars or convertibles. More than 15 daily tours are from the hotel around Carinthia, Italy and Slovenia.

We attract our guests with a variety of exciting attractions. In the winter time we celebrate the famous snowman event, in the summer time the culinary event “Maisgangl” is taken part, as well as open air concerts in and around the local area.

For decades active agriculture has been operated at Lerchenhof. We don´t use chemical fertiliser. Corn and barley are cultivated in a natural way. The pastures around the hotel are cultivated yearly and the fragrant smell of hay is harvested.

Our own butchery and smokehouse provide high quality products. The EU-branded name-brand product bacon “Gailtaler Speck” comes from here!

Carinthia´s Natural Arena offers something for every kind of sportsmen. For all Nordic Walker enthusiasts the region offers Nordic fitness parks and lots of trails. All bicycle- and mountain biker enthusiasts will find 950 km perfectly marked trails.

Hiking enthusiasts can take advantage of 1000 km hiking trails and 26 theme hiking trails. Water enthusiasts can bath in the lake Weissensee and lake Pressegger See. Carinthia´s Natural Arena has received international prizes for environment. The spring “Kärnten Card” is included.

Our region is a paradise for mountain bikers. 800 km of trails on 31 routes are marked on a map and categorized according to difficulty – easy, medium and difficult. 150 km biking trails are suitable for families. The largest swing in the Alps spans the Lesachtal valley. On the Mega Dive you can swing above the treetops on 70 metres long steel ropes under one of the highest bridges in the Lesachtal valley.

Carinthia, the sunny south of Austria, offers a good variety of skiing resorts. Nassfed is one the greatest, as well as one of the most modern skiing resorts.

30 lifts (5 cable-cars, 4 6-seater chair-lifts, 4 4-seater chair-lifts, 17 T-bar lifts) carry up to 44,000 passengers per hour up to over 2,000 metres above sea level. Skiers and snowboarders can spread out over 110 kilometres of pistes at all levels of difficulty.

Prices are in EURO per person/day or apartment per day. A supplement will be charged for all stays less than 3 days. Prices are in EURO without tax per person/day (tax in winter: € 1,95, tax in summer: € 1,25). Package price per stay without tax. A supplement of € 3,-/day will be charged for less than 3 days.

We prefer cash or EC-Card (for Europe), cash or Eurocheque. Thanks for your understanding, as we can’t accept credit cards.

Reductions for children
Children under the age of 3 years get 100 % reduction in their parent´s room. Children from 4 - 14 years get 15 - 50% reduction in their parent´s room.

Cancellations
In case of delayed arrival and departure the full price will be charged. Written cancellations are valid only. 3 weeks prior to arrival, we will charge 70% of the pre-booked arrangement. If the room is let cancellation fee is not applicable.

In other respects the Austrian Hotel Regulations are valid. We recommend to take out an insurance. Every contract is an individual contract. Area of jurisdiction: Hermagor
